How Lip Fillers Work
Lip fillers add volume and contour to the lips, giving them youthful shape and definition. The procedure is non-invasive, simple and fast and can be used on all areas of the face.
The procedure involves injecting a hyaluronic acid-based filler into the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to keep skin hydrated and plump. Dr Scudamore will inject the filler into the lips using a very fine needle. The filler will add volume and shape to the lips, creating a fuller, more defined look. The effects of the lip fillers can last for up to six months, depending on the type of filler used.
Areas that can be treated with filler injections are: lips, cheeks, tear troughs, nose, chin, and more. Most patients will experience no pain at all! A numbing cream can be applied to the target area to improve comfort during the procedure. There is only mild discomfort during treatment and swelling which usually resolves within a few days after the procedure.

Most patients will experience no pain at all! Others will experience mild discomfort.
When Do I See Lip Injection Results? How Long Do They Last?
Results can last anywhere from 3 – 6 months. We encourage you to come in for a 2 week follow up, and Dr. Scudamore can make any adjustments if needed.
How Long Does a Lip Filler Injection Take?
Approximately 30 – 60 minutes
Treatment Recovery and Downtime
Lip filler injections can be expected to feel uncomfortable and tender, but usually no more than 24 hours. You will experience swelling, bruising and lumps in the injected area.
We recommend staying hydrated, not using blood thinners as this can cause further bruising, abstaining from cosmetics for at least 24 hours after injection and covering up with an ice pack. Even looking uneven or lumpy is normal while healing.
Often it takes 2 weeks for your treatment to completely settle into its final form, which we encourage you to come in for a follow up appointment with Dr scudamore during these 2 weeks.
